Expansion and productivity upgrades of Foodirect, Inc. a family-owned full-service food distribution company located at the Hunts Point Cooperative Market. Out of necessity, Foodirect sought areas of expansion and found a solution that allows them to stay in the Bronx. Foodirect intends to renovate and enhance their existing distribution facility, bringing the 60-year-old building to current standards. The new spaces will be both energy efficient and increase capacity.
Estimated Economic and Social Impact
Retention of 150 jobs and creation of 50 permanent jobs. Creation of up to 50 permanent jobs, retention of over 120 employees, and provide critical food supplies for local bodegas and small grocery stores in low-income communities.
